Homemade Wontons in a Delicious Broth
Ingredients

- 50 – 60 wonton wrappers
- 200 g lean Beef mince
- 200 g peeled prawns, roughly chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger, finely grated
- 2 shallots, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp sesame oil, toasted
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 2 garlic cloves, smashed
- 1½ tbsp light soy sauce
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1½ tbsp Chinese cooking wine
- ¼ – ½ tsp sesame oil
- Shallots, finely chopped
- Bok choy, quartered
- 40 – 50 g dried egg noodles per person (optional)
Instructions
- Place filling ingredients in a bowl and mash until fairly smooth.
- Lay wontons on a work surface. Add filling to each wonton.
- Brush edges with water, fold to seal, and press out air.
- Place wrapped wontons in a container to prevent drying out.
- To cook, boil water and cook wontons for 4 minutes or until they float.
- For freezing, place uncooked wontons in airtight containers.
- For broth, combine broth ingredients in a saucepan and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
- Blanch vegetables in broth if using.
- Assemble soup with noodles, cooked wontons, and vegetables.
- Ladle over soup and serve.
Notes
- Wonton wrappers are available in the refrigerated section.
- Substitute soy sauce if needed.
- Use Chinese cooking wine for better flavor.
- Toasted sesame oil enhances taste.
- Asian chicken broth is recommended for best results.
