  • 1 cup bourbon
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Peel the pears, leaving the stems intact.
  2. In a saucepan, combine bourbon, water, sugar, vanilla bean and seeds, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Add the pears to the saucepan and reduce the heat to low.
  5. Cover and poach the pears for about 20-30 minutes, or until tender.
  6. Remove the pears and let them cool slightly.
  7. Increase the heat and reduce the poaching liquid until it thickens slightly.
  8. Serve the pears drizzled with the syrup.
