Ingredients

- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup milk
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Toss sliced apples with a small amount of sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter until creamy, then add eggs, vanilla, and milk.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients until just mixed.
- Fold in the apples and spread batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes, remove from pan, and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Do not overmix to keep the cake tender.
- Best served warm or at room temperature.
- Store covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for longer storage.
