Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp vegetable or canola oil
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chunks
  • Sea salt flakes for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325F and line a 9×5 or 8×5 baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter and oil in the microwave or on the stove top in a medium saucepan.
  3. Transfer the melted butter to a large bowl, or if melted in a bowl, add in the granulated and brown sugar. Whisk until combined.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla, whisk to combine.
  5. Whisk in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt until the flour mixture disappears.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chunks.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Insert a toothpick into the center; it should come out with a few wet crumbs.
  10. Let the brownies cool completely before slicing and enjoying.
