A traditional Southern Thanksgiving menu featuring classic dishes.
Ingredients
- Turkey – 1 whole (12-14 lbs)
- Butter – 1 cup
- Salt – 2 tbsp
- Pepper – 1 tbsp
- Garlic powder – 1 tbsp
- Onion powder – 1 tbsp
- Herbs (sage, thyme, rosemary) – 1 tbsp each
- Green beans – 2 lbs
- Olive oil – 2 tbsp
- Cornbread – 1 batch
- Buttermilk – 2 cups
- Flour – 2 cups
- Brown sugar – 1 cup
- Sweet potatoes – 4 lbs
- Marshmallows – 2 cups
- Pecan pie – 1 pie
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the turkey by rubbing butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and herbs all over.
- Roast the turkey in the oven for 3-4 hours until fully cooked.
- While the turkey cooks, prepare green beans by tossing with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then roast for 20 minutes.
- Make cornbread by mixing ingredients and baking in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
- Boil sweet potatoes until tender, then mash and top with marshmallows before baking until golden.
- Serve pecan pie for dessert.
Notes
- Let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Make cornbread a day ahead for best results.
