A delicious Southern-style casserole made with sweet potatoes and a rich maple syrup topping, perfect for holiday gatherings.

- 4 cups sweet potatoes, mashed
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, maple syrup, brown sugar, milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Mix until well combined and smooth.
- Pour the sweet potato mixture into a greased baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix the chopped pecans with a little brown sugar and sprinkle over the top of the casserole.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden and the casserole is heated through.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a vegan version, substitute eggs with flax eggs and use plant-based milk.
- Can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup to taste.
