A delicious and comforting Southern Maple Sweet Potato Casserole that combines the natural sweetness of sweet potatoes with a rich maple flavor, perfect for holiday gatherings.

- 4 cups mashed sweet potatoes
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, maple syrup, milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix until smooth.
- Pour the sweet potato mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and top with mini marshmallows.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a vegan version, substitute milk with almond milk and eggs with flax eggs.
- Can be prepared a day in advance and baked just before serving.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup according to taste.
