Soft and chewy gingerbread cookies with warm spices.
Ingredients

- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar.
- Add molasses and egg, mixing well.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
- Roll the dough into balls and place on baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are firm.
- Allow to cool before serving.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container.
- Can be decorated with icing if desired.
