Ingredients

- 1 loaf brioche bread, thickly sliced (8 slices)
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup half and half
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp molasses
- 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 1/4 tsp each: cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves
- butter
- vegetable oil
Instructions
- Whisk the eggs, half and half, molasses, pumpkin, and spices in a wide shallow bowl.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt butter with vegetable oil.
- Soak each slice of bread in the pumpkin batter for about 30 seconds on each side.
- Let excess batter drip off before adding to the skillet.
- Cook until browned on each side, adjusting heat for thick bread.
- Serve hot with butter and maple syrup.

- Use a pie plate for easy soaking of bread.
- Combining butter and oil prevents burning.
