Description

A quick and flavorful dish featuring tender beef steak with bell peppers and onion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) beef steak (sirloin, flank, or ribeye), thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Toss the beef slices in the mixture until coated. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef slices in a single layer and sear 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Remove beef and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Add bell peppers and onion, sauté 3–4 minutes until tender but still crisp.
  4. Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet. Add beef broth or water and stir to combine. Cook 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Taste and adjust with salt and pepper if needed. Serve immediately over rice or noodles.
