Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare an 8×8 inch baking dish by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add sugar, corn syrup, and salt to the pan. Stir until combined.
  4. Slowly add heavy cream while stirring continuously.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low.
  6. Cook until the mixture reaches 245°F (firm ball stage) on a candy thermometer.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  8. Pour the caramel into the prepared baking dish.
  9. Let it cool completely before cutting into squares.
