- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup Nutella
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat together the Nutella, mascarpone cheese, and softened butter until smooth.
- Add the eggs and milk to the Nutella mixture and mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- For the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until just simmering, then pour over the chopped chocolate. Let sit for a few minutes, then stir until smooth.
- Once the cakes are cool, spread a layer of ganache between the two layers and on top of the cake.
- Decorate with additional Nutella or chocolate shavings if desired.

- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- This cake can be made a day in advance and tastes even better the next day.
