Description
A refreshing homemade sorbet with the flavors of strawberry and basil.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup fresh basil
- 3 cups strawberries, tops cut off and quartered
- 1/2 cup 100% pineapple juice
- juice of 1/2 lime
Instructions
- Combine water, sugar and salt in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and stir until sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat and stir in basil.
- Let stand for 30 minutes.
- Process strawberries in a food processor or blender until smooth.
- Add sugar/basil mixture, pineapple juice and lime juice. Process until everything is blended together.
- Strain mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl. Discard solids.
- Pour liquid sorbet mixture into the can of an ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Spoon into a freezer safe container and freeze until firm.
- Serve garnished with fresh strawberries, if desired.
