Homemade Strawberry Basil Sorbet Recipe: 7 Refreshing Steps

Description

A refreshing homemade sorbet with the flavors of strawberry and basil.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil
  • 3 cups strawberries, tops cut off and quartered
  • 1/2 cup 100% pineapple juice
  • juice of 1/2 lime

Instructions

  1. Combine water, sugar and salt in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar dissolves.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in basil.
  4. Let stand for 30 minutes.
  5. Process strawberries in a food processor or blender until smooth.
  6. Add sugar/basil mixture, pineapple juice and lime juice. Process until everything is blended together.
  7. Strain mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl. Discard solids.
  8. Pour liquid sorbet mixture into the can of an ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  9. Spoon into a freezer safe container and freeze until firm.
  10. Serve garnished with fresh strawberries, if desired.
