Description
Hamburger steaks served in a creamy dill sauce.

- 1.3 pounds ground beef
- 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 yellow onion – grated
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 yellow onion – diced
- 2 garlic cloves – minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- ½ cup low sodium chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp chopped dill – more for serving
Instructions
- Grate the onion into a large bowl.
- Add ground beef, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, cream, and egg. Mix with your hands until just combined.
- Divide the mixture into 4 portions and shape each into a ball.
- Press the balls down until ¾ inch thick.
- Finely chop the onion, mince the garlic, and chop the dill.
- Heat oil and butter over medium heat in a large nonstick skillet.
- Add hamburger steaks and cook for 4-5 minutes per side.
- Transfer cooked steaks to a clean plate.
- Add garlic and onion to the skillet, reduce heat to low, and cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
- Add salt, pepper, and flour. Stir until incorporated.
- Pour in broth and simmer for 2 minutes, scraping up brown bits from the skillet.
- Add cream and dill, bring to a boil, and simmer for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Return hamburger steaks to the skillet and simmer for 5-6 minutes until heated through.
- Finish with chopped dill and freshly grated black pepper. Serve!
Notes
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Serve with a side of vegetables or rice.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
