Description

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 3/4 cup cold plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, egg, and water.
  5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until the dough just comes together.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead until it forms a cohesive dough. Do not overwork.
  7. Roll the dough into a 1-inch thick circle. Cut into rounds with a biscuit cutter or into 2×2-inch squares. Re-roll scraps to use all dough.
  8. Place biscuits on prepared baking sheets and brush tops with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Store biscuits in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
