German Red Cabbage is a traditional side dish made with red cabbage, vinegar, and spices.

- 1 medium red cabbage, shredded
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup sugar

- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add onions and cook until soft.
- Add shredded cabbage and apples.
- Pour in apple cider vinegar.
- Add sugar, salt, pepper, and cloves.
- Stir well and cover.
- Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve warm.

- Adjust sweetness by modifying sugar.
- For a spicier flavor, add more black pepper.
