Description
A classic breakfast dish made with brioche bread soaked in a cinnamon-vanilla egg mixture and cooked until golden.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
- Pinch of salt
- 8 slices brioche bread
- Unsalted butter, for cooking
- Maple syrup, powdered sugar, and berries for serving (optional)
Instructions
- If using an electric griddle, preheat to 350°F.
- In a shallow dish or pie plate, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, ½ of the cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Dip each slice of brioche into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
- After dipping half of the slices, add the remaining cinnamon to the egg mixture and whisk again.
- Melt a little butter on the hot griddle or in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the French toast for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
- Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh berries if desired.
Notes
- Keep Warm: Preheat oven to 200°F. Place cooked French toast on a wire rack set over a baking sheet and keep warm in the oven for up to 30 minutes.
- Storage: Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 3–4 days. Freeze by placing slices in a single layer on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven or toaster for best texture, or microwave for a softer result.
