A delicious Danish pastry with a rich almond flavor.

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, cut 1/2 cup butter into 1 cup flour.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of water to form a dough.
- Divide the dough in half.
- Pat each half into a 12×3 inch rectangle on an ungreased baking sheet.
- In a saucepan, bring 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of butter to a boil.
- Remove from heat and quickly stir in 1 cup of flour and almond extract until the mixture forms a ball.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, until smooth and shiny.
- Spread the egg mixture evenly over the dough rectangles.
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
- Allow to cool completely.
- In a small bowl, whisk together confectioners’ sugar, milk, and almond extract to form a glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled puffs and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Can be served warm or cold.
