- 12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon white pepper
- ½ cup whole milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup chicken or vegetable broth
Instructions
- Rinse shrimp and pat dry. Set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter.
- Whisk in flour, paprika, salt, and white pepper until a smooth paste forms.
- Gradually add milk and cream, whisking constantly until smooth and thick.
- Pour in the broth and whisk until fully incorporated. Cook until the sauce is thick and gently bubbling.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally.
- In a separate pan, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons butter. Sauté shrimp for about 1 minute per side until lightly pink.
- Add shrimp and melted butter to the sauce. Stir gently and cook 2–3 minutes, until shrimp are fully cooked.
- Serve hot.

- Do not overcook the shrimp; they should be tender and just opaque.
