Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¼ cup whole milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoon Active Dry Yeast, or 1 packet
  • ¼ cup Honey
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter, divided
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups (480 grams) all-purpose or bread flour

Instructions

  1. Bring the milk to a near boil. Remove it from heat when it begins to steam and small bubbles form.
  2. Let the milk cool to lukewarm, between 80-90 degrees.
  3. Mix the milk, yeast, and honey in a small bowl until combined. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, mix 3 tablespoons of butter, the milk mixture, egg, salt, and half of the flour. Mix until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the remaining flour and mix until a dough forms.
  6. Knead the dough for 8 minutes on a floured surface.
  7. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
  8. Punch down the dough and roll it out to ½ inch thick. Fold in half and seal.
  9. Cut into 24 squares and place on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise for 30-40 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
  11. Melt the remaining butter and brush on top of the rolls.
