Description

Classic Holiday Toffee is a rich and buttery treat topped with chocolate and pecans. Perfect for holiday gifting or enjoying with family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp fine salt
  • Chocolate chips
  • Additional chopped pecans
  • Flaked sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper and spread the chopped pecans evenly across the bottom.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, sugar, water, and salt. Stir frequently as the mixture melts and bubbles.
  3. Attach a candy thermometer and cook until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat and carefully stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Immediately pour the hot toffee over the pecans in the pan, spreading evenly. Let sit for 2 minutes, then sprinkle chocolate chips generously over the surface.
  6. Cover loosely with foil to help the chocolate melt.
  7. After about 4 minutes, uncover and spread the melted chocolate evenly. Sprinkle with additional chopped pecans and optional flaked sea salt.
  8. Allow to cool completely for about 4 hours at room temperature or refrigerate to speed up setting.
  9. Lift from the pan using parchment paper and cut or break into pieces.

Notes
