Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and the yeast mixture.
- Add 2 cups of flour and mix until smooth.
- Gradually add more flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out to 1/2 inch thickness.
- Cut out doughnuts using a doughnut cutter and place them on a floured baking sheet.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375°F and fry the doughnuts until golden brown, about 1 minute per side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Dip the warm doughnuts in the glaze and let them set on a wire rack.
