Description

A delicious treat combining peanut butter and chocolate, perfect for Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter – room temperature
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter – melted
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1012 oz. chocolate – chopped in small pieces (or good quality candy coating)

Instructions

  1. Line an 8 x 8 inch dish with parchment paper, leaving overhang on the sides.
  2. In a mixing bowl, stir together peanut butter, melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt until sugar dissolves.
  3. Gradually mix in powdered sugar.
  4. Press the mixture into the prepared dish, smoothing the top.
  5. Place in the freezer until firm enough for cutting.
  6. Line a tray with parchment paper.
  7. Using a small heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out hearts and place them on the tray.
  8. Collect and re-knead leftover batter to cut out more hearts.
  9. Place hearts in the freezer until firm.
  10. Melt the chocolate and line another tray with parchment paper.
  11. Dip each heart into melted chocolate using a fork, tapping to remove excess.
  12. Place chocolate-covered hearts on the tray and refrigerate until chocolate has set.
  13. Store in the fridge or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

  • The number of hearts depends on the size of your cookie cutter.
  • Mine was about 1 ½ inches and I made about 30 hearts.
