Description

Delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies that are soft and chewy.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (16 Tbsp), softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, tightly packed
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, measured correctly
  • 1 tsp baking soda, sifted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 oz), divided, reserving 1/4 cup for the top

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350˚ F. Line a baking sheet with parchment or Silpat liner.
  2. In a stand mixer bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat for 5 minutes until creamy and light.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then beat in vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt, and baking soda. Add this mixture to the creamed butter in thirds.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Use an ice cream scoop to form balls of dough (3 Tbsp each) and place them on the lined baking sheet, 2 inches apart.
  7. Stud tops with reserved chocolate chips. Bake immediately or refrigerate until ready to bake.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden and tops look under-baked. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

Notes

  • To measure flour correctly, fluff it first, then spoon into a measuring cup and level the top.
