Description
Delicious and moist chocolate banana bread with rich chocolate flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp sea salt
- 3 large ripe bananas (about 1½ cups mashed)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- ¼ cup canola oil (or melted coconut oil)
- ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with nonstick spray and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas with a fork.
- Stir in melted butter and oil until combined.
- Add brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in ¾ cup chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and sprinkle remaining ¼ cup chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 50–65 minutes, checking at the 50-minute mark. A toothpick inserted should come out mostly clean (melted chocolate is fine; wet batter is not).
- Remove from oven and cool in pan for 15 minutes.
- Run a knife around the edges, remove loaf, and cool on a wire rack until slightly warm.
- Slice and serve.
Notes
- Store wrapped at room temperature for up to 4 days.
