Description

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft, thick, and loaded with chocolate chips. They are perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 and 1/4 cups (281g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter, melted & cooled for 5 minutes
  • 3/4 cup (150g) packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 and 1/4 cups (225g) semi-sweet chocolate chips or chocolate chunks

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt together. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until no lumps remain. Add the egg and egg yolk, whisk until combined, then whisk in the vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix together with a large spoon or spatula. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  4. Cover the dough tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to 3 days.
  5. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  6. Scoop the chilled cookie dough using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, roll into a ball, and shape it taller rather than wide. Arrange cookies 3 inches apart on the baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 13–14 minutes until the edges are lightly browned. Cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

  • You can chill cookie dough in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Baked cookies can be frozen for up to 3 months.
  • Unbaked cookie dough balls can also freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Room-temperature eggs are recommended for best results.
