Ingredients
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup heavy cream (or substitute with whole milk for a lighter version)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
A pinch of salt (optional, for a salted caramel twist)
Instructions
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
Add the brown sugar and heavy cream . Stir until well combined.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar. Reduce heat and simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt (if using).
Let the syrup cool slightly before serving. It will thicken as it cools.
